Swing Shift Training Supervisor

Location: Chanhassen, MN

Job Duties

Supervise and coordinate the day to day operations of the employees, including but not limited to: Receiving, scheduling, delegating work assignments, truck loading, facility layout, and equipment inspections and maintenance.

Managing the workforce to achieve productive goals and performance standards.

Assist in physical inventory of materials and supplies and ensure adequate inventory levels.

Coordinate Workman’s Compensation, safety, OSHA, DOT and other programs to ensure compliance – oversee housekeeping of the warehouse and eliminate any safety hazards.

Maintain proper risk management to keep the corporation from being a victim of theft and/or fraud by reviewing and evaluating the adequacy of internal controls for all systems including financial/accounting systems, computer systems, as well as building security.

Maintain a current procedure manual of all assigned duties.

Ensures compliance with operational safety and security policies and procedures.

Ensure quality and accuracy of all production orders through proper training and process verification.

Assist in identifying current product and process training and development needs.

In conjunction with select managers, develop long-term training plans, course outlines, materials, and prioritization process for defined training initiatives.

Develop training curriculum around Lyman 101 and Lumber 101 concepts.

Conduct classroom and lumber and building materials training and associated audits.

Train new associates on necessary processes and procedures.

Coordinate training schedule and maintain training database.

Assess and track training effectiveness and provide manager with regular training status reports and tracking data.

Ensure all necessary physical components for training are available and in working order.

Monitor, evaluate and communicate training participations and attendance to Manager.

Provide testing tools and classroom feedback to employees.

Performs other duties as assigned by Management.


Minimum education required— High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Minimum experience required—2 years warehouse/distribution experience.

Special skills required— Basic computer skills required in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, & Outlook, strong presentation, customer service and facilitation skills. Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities. Ability to develop comprehensible and effective training materials. Above average verbal/written communication and presentation skills.

Able to meet goals within an environment that provides a great deal of latitude, creativity, and strategic planning for future training initiatives and programs

Must possess a valid driver’s license and maintain an acceptable driving record in traveling to job sites.

Physical demands include standing, walking or sitting for extended periods of time, and bending or stooping.
